UASIN GISHU AND NAIROBI COUNTIES SHARE KNOWLEDGE ON BEST PRACTICES TO ENHANCE SERVICE DELIVERY IN THE ROADS AND TRANSPORT SECTOR

Uasin Gishu County Chief Officer for Roads, Transport and Public Works Eng. Abraham Kiptalam on Friday had an engagement with top Nairobi County officials led by the County Executive Committee Member Mr Brian Munala and Chief Officer Eng Eng. Geoffrey Kimutai Tirop from the Department of Mobility and Works to share best practices through knowledge-sharing to improve service delivery
in both counties.

The discussion held at the Nairobi County headquarters between the two teams centered on different aspects including the need to have an asphalt plant for the manufacture of concrete for quality long-lasting roads and besides increasing the number of fire engines, and acquisition of modern equipment for fire stations.

Eldoret is slated to be elevated to a city status after Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisumu, and Mombasa anytime soon.

“As a department, we are keen on putting up infrastructural projects to address the emerging challenges related to increased population that is set to come with the Eldoret town being elevated to city status, “C.O. Eng Kiptalam stated.

The Chief Officer noted that the Governor. Dr Jonathan Bii, EGH-led administration has initiated various development programs aimed at addressing some of the challenges that may arise as a result of Eldoret becoming a city, such as road connectivity and increased demand for affordable housing and other essential services.

The Nairobi City County Executive Committee Member for Mobility and Works. Mr Brian Mulama said they will continue to share their creative and innovative ideas that have in the recent past helped them boost performance and minimize traffic jams in the city which was in the
past a menace.

On his part, Nairobi County Chief Officer for Mobility and Works Eng. Geoffrey Kimutai Rop stressed the importance of regular training for officers to keep them abreast of their roles in the wake of the changing technologies.
