Biography

His Excellency Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, E.G.H is a Kenyan politician. He is currently the second Governor of Uasin Gishu County, elected into office during the 2022 Kenyan general election. He is a member of the United Democratic Alliance.
His political journey began in 2007 when he contested against William Ruto then an ODM candidate for Eldoret North seat. He was then running on a KANU ticket. He performed remarkably well but not good enough to beat Ruto. When the results were made public he retreated to his home, dusted himself and promised to bounce back.
In 2017 the unwavering, unshaken and the ever cheerful Bio was on the ring again this time to face off with Caleb Kositany. He gleefully lost by a whisker but not without citing mischief at the polls. Nudged by his aides to seek legal redress, he abandoned the same saying "my best times are ahead of us. Do not cry over spilt milk".
In 2018 at a inter-denominational fundraiser attended by DP William Ruto, Bii surprised his friends and foes when he announced his defection from KANU to Jubilee Party. Amid alkylation and deafening cheers from the congregation Jonathan Bii said "Like the Biblical prodigal son, I am coming back home. I have wandered and meandered for years on end in the political wilderness". "Will you receive me?" He posed. The response was ecstatic. There was a stampede as leaders stepped forward to welcome him "home". When he rose to speak the DP happily welcomed Jonathan Bii and promised to fix him somewhere in government. The rest as they say is history.
