COUNTY GOVERNMENT HANDS OVER ESP MARKET CONSTRUCTION TO CONTRACTOR

The County Government of Uasin Gishu is committed to fostering agribusiness, economic growth, and sustainable development by improving market access for its residents.

Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii emphasized that his administration is actively implementing the Nguzo Kumi agenda to uplift the county.

He highlighted Nguzo Four, which focuses on market accessibility, as a key pillar in achieving this goal.

“Development projects are already underway, including road infrastructure, hospital upgrades, water initiatives, and the ongoing school milk program, all aimed at transforming our county,” Governor Dr. Bii stated.

Speaking at the official handover of the construction of the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) markets in Ainabkoi and Kapseret constituencies, the Governor reiterated that the initiative seeks to empower traders, create employment opportunities, and enhance local economic growth by bringing modern trading facilities closer to the people.

The markets, established in partnership with the national government, are designed to boost rural economies by supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Area Members of Parliament, Samuel Chepkong’a (Ainabkoi) and Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), who were present at the event, pledged their full support for the project and urged the contractor to ensure timely completion.

Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea assured the contractor of the county government’s full cooperation to facilitate the successful completion of the projects.

The ongoing ESP market constructions include Kipkaren River, Matharu, Kesses, and Moiben, while Cherus is among the areas earmarked for future development.

Also in attendance were MCAs Moses Kebenei (Kapseret) and Gilbert Chepkong’a (Ainabkoi), alongside senior county officials, including CECMs Martha Cheruto (Trade), Dr. Sam Kotut (Agriculture), and Dr. Abraham Serem (Health), as well as Chief Officers Nathan Korir (Trade) and Elphas Kesio (Agriculture).
