ZIWA RESIDENTS CAN NOW ACCESS LAB SERVICES AT KIMURGOI DISPENSARY

Residents of Ziwa Machine in Ziwa Ward of Soy Sub County can now breathe a sigh of relief as they will finally have access to much-needed laboratory services at Kimurgoi Dispensary.

This milestone was achieved through the funding and support of Safaricom Foundation, as part of their Ndoto Zetu initiative.

The unveiling of the laboratory services at Kimurgoi Dispensary marked the culmination of a collaborative effort between the County Government of Uasin Gishu and Safaricom Foundation.

While unveiling the lab services,Governor Dr Jonathan Bii expressed his gratitude for Safaricom Foundation for their support in equipping the dispensary with state-of-the-art lab machines, emphasizing the importance of accurate diagnosis in healthcare.

Dr. Bii also noted the innovative use of technology in providing healthcare services to the community by use of drones to collect samples and deliver test results therefore eliminating the need for residents to travel long distances to access essential healthcare services.

“My administration has invested in diagnostic machines and drones because the technology-driven approach not only enhances efficiency but also ensures that residents receive timely and accurate medical care,”said Dr Bii.

County Executive for Health Services, Dr Abraham Serem, emphasized the importance of hygiene to prevent the spread of diseases like Hepatitis A, also called on the Community Health Promoters (CHPs) to enhance surveillance in their respective areas of jurisdiction in order to detect and prevent any outbreaks of infectious diseases.

Members of County Assembly Hon Ezekiel Kodi(Ziwa) and Isaac Tamogei (Soy) noted that the accurate diagnosis provided by the state-of-the-art equipment will enable healthcare providers to offer targeted and effective treatment plans, leading to better health outcomes for the residents.

On her part Clinical Services Chief Officer Dr Joyce Sang noted that their is enough drugs in all the facilities and any one caught selling the government procured drugs will be delt with according to the law.

Henry Ngetich,a resident of Ziwa Machine and one of the founders of the facility thanked Governor Bii’s government for the partnership that has seen them benefit from the lab services further calling on the Governor to consider maternity unit in the facility.

Among the equipments funded by Safaricom Foundation include microscope,three centrifuges,four hemoglobin meters,four blood glucose meters and a medical refrigerator.

Present were;Eldowas Managing Director Peter Biwott,County Executives Eng Martha Cheruto (Trade),Dr Sam Kotut (Water),Eng Joseph Lagat (Roads), Edward Sawe (Agriculture),Agriculture Chief Officer Elphas Kesio among other County Officials.
