GOVERNOR BII HOSTS PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE ON TRADE, INDUSTRY, AND COOPERATIVES

Uasin Gishu Governor H.E. Dr. Jonathan Bii on Friday hosted members of the Parliamentary Committee on Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, who are on a fact-finding mission in the county. The delegation is visiting key industrial players Rivatex and the New KCC with the aim of strengthening trade, manufacturing, and investment in the region.

Governor Bii acknowledged that the remarkable growth of both Uasin Gishu County and Eldoret City is largely attributed to the strong and collaborative relationship established with the business community.

“The progress we are witnessing in our county stems from the cordial working relations we’ve built with industry stakeholders and investors,” said Governor Bii. “This visit is a vital step toward addressing the operational challenges faced by these institutions and ensuring that policy support from Parliament is aligned with their needs.”

He emphasized that the ongoing engagement will foster mutual understanding around the mandate, contributions, and constraints of the trade and manufacturing sectors critical drivers of local and national economic development.

Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee, Hon. Bernard Masaka stated that their mission is not only to assess institutional operations but also to evaluate the modernization of machinery, safety protocols, and product quality and competitiveness.

“Our visit is aimed at reviewing the state of these industries and providing necessary support. These enterprises are the engines of our economy,” said Hon. Masaka.

Deputy Governor H.E. Evans Kapkea County Secretary Mr. Philip Meli, and CECMs Martha Cheruto (Trade and Cooperatives), Eng. Joseph Lagat (Health), Edward Sawe (Lands), and Chief of Staff Pius Chumba were also present during the visit.
