Uasin Gishu County’s Executive Committee Member for the Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development Dr. Janeth Kosgei, today joined the World Bank team, GA Consultancy team, together with the Uasin Gishu KISIP technical team in an exercise that saw a thorough verification and validation of detailed designs for the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Programme that is set to begin in various Settlements in the County.
Leading the team, Dr. Kosgei noted that the verification a and validation processes included infrastructure upgrading plans, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of procurement documents. Hence noted the importance of ensuring that all designs are in agreement with the beneficiaries needs and prioritisation.


“I count KISIP as a success already in Uasin Gishu and we are upto task to deliver the infrastructural developments that target Kipkaren, KK, segero, Kasarani, Ngomongo, Mwanzo, Shauri Yako and Maili Nne Settlements.
We are all here to ensure that every little detail is keenly looked at to ensure that all requirements are captured and no faults are ignored. Hence I call upon everyone of us, as experts in our various fields to ensure that the designs are in line with the communities prioritisation to avoid conflict during implementation,” Noted Dr. Kosgei.
Chief Officer Housing and Urban Development Mr. Julius Koech, expressed his gratitude for the consideration from KISIP programme; emphasising that the approval of funding to the tune of ksh.1.4 billion would excellently change the livelihoods of the people.
“We have been given deadlines for completion of bidding documents. We are prepared for the task ahead since we have a capable team. With the guidance from the consultant, we shall surely meet the 30th December date given for completion of all procurement processes,” said Mr. Koech.

Later, the team joined by SEC members of each settlement, made site visits to all the settlements where they are set to benefit on major infrastructure development that include:- tarmacking of roads, footpaths, street lights, High mast lighting, drainage systems and Beautification works.
