The County Government of Uasin Gishu has launched a collaborative campaign to tackle the growing issue of electronic waste (e-waste). The campaign, held at the county headquarters, aimed to educate the public on responsible e-waste disposal and management.
Facilitated by experts from the ICT Authority’s Purity Gitau and Patrick Kwanya, the event highlighted the environmental and health risks of improper e-waste disposal. E-waste contains harmful chemicals and heavy metals that, if not disposed of properly, can contaminate the soil and water, posing serious threats to public health.
The county is committed to addressing these risks through proper disposal and recycling practices. Uasin Gishu is working closely with industry stakeholders, government bodies, and the public to establish structured e-waste management solutions.

The campaign also emphasized the role of individuals in responsible e-waste disposal, urging the public to recycle old electronics and donate usable devices for refurbishment.
As part of its broader sustainability strategy, the County Government is committed to environmental conservation and improving the quality of life for its residents. This effort aligns with the Nguzo 7 blueprint, focusing on collective action and responsible resource management.
With continued collaboration, the County is poised to lead in sustainable e-waste management, setting an example for other countries to follow.
