Members of Uasin Gishu County Assembly have lauded the Department of Roads, Transport and Public Works for transparency in project planning, implementation and prudent utilization of public resources, with the commendation coming after Roads officials appeared before the Committee of the Whole House to account for plans and expenditure for the 2025/2026 Financial Year.

The session was chaired by Roads Committee Chairperson Gilbert Chepkonga and co-chaired by Francis Muya and was also attended by officials from the Finance Department, led by Roads County Executive Committee Member Abraham Serem, Chief Officer for Finance Eliud Kipkorir and Chief Officer for Roads Geoffrey Tanui, who responded to questions raised by members.

The MCAs noted that openness in planning and execution has been key to efficient resource utilization and high performance under Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s administration, with satisfactory execution of road projects reported across all 30 wards, and commended the officers for their exemplary work while urging them to sustain high standards.

At the same time, the department outlined its El Nino preparedness initiatives, including opening up drainages, grading and gravelling of access roads, and servicing of road machinery, to ensure roads remain passable and emergency response is not hampered when the country experiences the anticipated heavy rains.
