UASIN GISHU BREAKS OWN RECORD AT THE MUSIC AND CULTURAL FESTIVALS

Uasin Gishu has emerged the second best county in the just concluded 96th Edition of the Kenya National Music and Cultural Festivals.

The festivals were held in Wote, Makueni County.

During the event that attracted groups from across the county, Uasin Gishu won a record 24 trophies.

Chief Officer for Gender, Social Protection and Culture Eunice Suter said “as Uasin Gishu, we’re very proud of our performance in the 96th edition of Kenya and cultural festivals.

“We’ve been awarded the second best county and we want to take this opportunity to thank our Governor for facilitating our community groups to come and participate,” she added.

The County sponsored 6 community groups that took part in the festivals alongside other groups from Moi University and University of Eldoret.

According to CO Suter, the County has managed to win the highest number of trophies ever since it has been taking part on the festivals.

Last year, Uasin Gishu finished overall fourth.

“To the participating teams, we are proud of them for making our county proud. Congratulations to the teams for working tirelessly for this performance,” Suter.

With improved performance, the Chief Officer says the county will now be targeting the number one spot in the 97th Edition of the Kenya National Music and Cultural Festivals which will be held next year.
