The county-wide Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) exercise entered its third day in Ainabkoi Sub-County, led by County Budget Officer CPA Wycliffe Kimaru. The exercise seeks to assess the progress and impact of ongoing agricultural and livestock projects implemented through county programs aimed at empowering local farmers and community groups.
During the field visit, the M&E team interacted with several beneficiaries who shared encouraging success stories, highlighting how county support has transformed their livelihoods.
Among them was Sophie Chepkirui, who received 50 coffee seedlings and has already harvested twice, realizing a total of six kilograms. Sally Sawe, another beneficiary who received 200 seedlings, has also harvested twice and created employment opportunities for locals engaged in coffee picking.
Helen Toroitich, who benefited from 200 coffee seedlings and 20 macadamia trees, expressed her appreciation for the training on coffee farm management, noting that it has significantly boosted productivity and sustainability on her farm.

Women’s groups also featured prominently in the day’s evaluation. The Chelalane Women Group, led by Beatrice Kigen, received 100 chicks under the Inua Mama na Kuku initiative. The 26-member group successfully sold the chicks to other farmers and reinvested the proceeds in purchasing sheep — a clear demonstration of how women’s empowerment programs are driving economic transformation at the grassroots.
Similarly, Jane Kering of the Tolosio Kang’asis Women Group, which comprises 25 members, confirmed receiving 150 chicks, strengthening their small-scale poultry enterprise.

Other notable beneficiaries included Philip Simatei (300 coffee seedlings), Alex Kaitany (700 coffee seedlings, 80 avocado trees, and 30 macadamia trees), and Collins Maritim (400 coffee seedlings). Stephen Kiplagat also received 30 coffee seedlings and 20 macadamia trees, while Francis Sawe benefited from 1,000 coffee seedlings — one of the largest distributions in the sub-county.
Additionally, the Mvita Bonde Self-Help Group, led by Joseph Kirwa and composed of 12 members, received 150 chicks, while the Saos Women Group, under the Inua Mama na Kuku program and led by Priscilla Ruto, also benefited from 150 chicks.
Speaking during the exercise, CPA Wycliffe Kimaru commended the beneficiaries for their dedication and responsible use of county support. He noted that the positive results observed reflect the success of community empowerment initiatives in enhancing food security and improving livelihoods across Ainabkoi Sub-County.
