Consultants from the Kenya Urban Support Program led by Elizabeth Muthui of Prestige Management Solutions are in town for an assessment and follow-up exercise of the projects undertaken under KUSP 1.

“We are here to assess the impact and efficiency of projects undertaken under KUSP 1 as we prepare for KUSP 2,” said the team leader.

On his part, the Chief Officer Lands and Physical Planning Nathan Korir promised a good working relationship between the two institutions.” We shall work together seamlessly with our development partners to ensure everything runs smoothly.”

The Municipality Chairperson Julius Kitur appreciated the work done under KUSP 1. “The walkways done under KUSP 1 are used by a huge number of people mostly the students from town to Rift Valley Technical Institute and Eldoret National Polytechnic. The high masts have improved security in the town and in turn, an improved business environment which reflects on the revenue collection,” said Kitur.

The Municipality Manager Mr. Tito Koiyet promised an improved performance in KUSP 2 citing challenges faced in the first phase.” We managed to complete 11 projects under the last phase amid small challenges here and there but I believe going into the future things will work well given that we have started receiving staff under the municipality.”

Environment expert Gideon Kirwa on his part termed Eldoret as a walking city.
“With the project of over 9KM footpath, Eldoret has been made a walking city, which is good for health. It is because of KUSP 1 that Eldoret Municipality is almost becoming a city,” said Kirwa.

Others present were Keith Karego(KUSP) and staff from the Municipality.
