HOUSING DEPARTMENT UNDERTAKES SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME TO KILIMANI ESTATE

“Affordable Housing is a key programme that is set to benefit the people of Uasin Gishu and give an opportunity to all residents to own a home within the city,” these were the sentiments of Director Housing Ms. Beatrice Menjo as she met tenants drawn from Kilimani Estate on Housing and revenue collection sensitization.

Ms. Beatrice Menjo, noted that the Affordable Housing programme will be largely implemented in Eldoret and reassured the tenants of getting the units while emphasizing the need for immediate registration at the ” BOMA YANGU ” portal.

“Today we have made a sensitization visit to share ideas on improving our tenant-landlord co-operation. This is also a reminder to all tenants that it is very importantto pay your rent on time, we also want to notify all our tenants that rent is payable only to the County Government at TAC centre and no cash is taken.

We also ask those who have huge arrears running into years to come to our offices and negotiate on period and amount that can be applied to repay comfortably.
By end of March we will be repossessing the houses that have not been paid for, so today we urge all those with arrears to visit our offices at Ardhi House Room 8,” Ms Menjo warned.

Later, together with her Counter part Director of Lands Ms. Nelly Jerotich and The Principal Housing Officer Mr. Isaac Sang , visited the newly established county service centre that has brought together all County services to a one stop shop at TAC centre.

Here, they urged clients to pay for all services that were previously offered at Ardhi House and headquarters among them landrates, plan approvals and House rent.

Rebecca Karanja, a business lady at the CBD said she was glad that the services had been brought to TAC centre as she was able to pay for her business permit and landrates at the same station and appreciated the comfort that clients experienced while queueing for services.
