GROUND BREAKING OF CONSTRUCTION WORKS FOR MOI’SBRIDGE/MATUNDA WATER SUPPLY PROJECT

On Thursday 9th January, President William Samoei Ruto, flanked by Uasin Gishu Governor, Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, other dignitaries, engaged in the ground breaking exercise for the Moisbridge – Matunda water supply project.

While launching the mega project, the president reaffirmed his government commitment to improving water access to ensure every Kenyan is within reach of the vital commodity.

“We are committed to fulfilling our pledges by delivering priority projects that directly enhance the lives of our people,” he said.

Governor Dr. Bii said, “Today’s groundbreaking exercise for the Moi’s Bridge-Matunda water supply project by the President is a significant milestone for our residents. This project will greatly enhance water access for both household and agricultural use.”

Uasin Gishu County is among the biggest beneficiaries of the commenced construction by Northrift valley water supply and sewarage projects.

This project is intended to be implemented in two phases to enhance water supply and improve on the sanitation situation in Matunda and Moi’sbridge towns which are rapidly expanding. The project will also benefit
communities along the pipeline route.
The main objective of the project is to improve the access, quality, availability and sustainability of water
supply and wastewater management services to approximately 104,000 persons upon completion.

Also present was our CECM for water, sanitation, energy, environment, natural resources and climate change Dr. Sam Kotut.

The program aligns with Governor Dr. Bii’s Nguzo number 7, which aims to Improve living standards of the residents of Uasin Gishu County through ensuring affordable water and sanitation services.

The project will greatly enhance water access for both household and agricultural use.
