At least 600,000 trees have been planted through the Iten-Eldoret Water Fund project, positively ramping up efforts for environmental conservation.
The data also comes as a big push up to President Dr William Ruto’s vision of planting up to 15 billion trees by 2032.
The Iten-Water Fund Project representatives from both the public and private sectors paid a courtesy call to Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea, where they shared the data.

The visit signified the launch of the midterm review to assess progress made in the past 3 years of project conservation efforts. The initiative is being implemented through a robust Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The Deputy Governor applauded the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders and reaffirmed the County Government’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.

He emphasized the importance of continued support and coordination to ensure the long-term success of the project.
It was also reported that of the 600,000 trees planted, at least 180,000 are fruit trees, contributing significantly to the economic stability of the locality.
