GOVERNOR DR. BII COMMISSIONS OVER 700KM ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

Uasin Gishu County Governor Dr Jonathan Bii has commissioned the improvement program for rural and urban roads in Sinonin area in Soy Sub-County, with the aim of advancing his agenda to transform lives.

The devolved unit and the National Youth Service will grade and gravel over 700 kilometres of roads, beginning work immediately and completing construction before the next rainy season.

During the launch, the county boss reiterated his commitment to infrastructure development to improve livelihoods, agriculture, and trade.

Governor Bii said, “My administration developed this elaborate plan under ‘Nguzo 6’ to continually improve all roads and foster economic growth and better livelihoods for all residents.”

He assured residents that the team will implement the program equitably across all wards, explaining that the county chose to partner with NYS to increase capacity and fix as many roads as possible damaged by last year’s heavy rain, within a short period.

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor H.E Hon. Evans Kapkea urged the NYS team to remain focused and work diligently to achieve the objectives of the highly anticipated road improvement program.

He noted that the administration will support and work closely with NYS team.” This program is a major transformative infrastructure initiative for the administration,” said Kapkea.

NYS Assistant Commandant General Philip Koech assured residents that his team will implement the program without bias, meet the timeline, and deliver value for money and satisfaction.

The County assembly members, led by the leader of the majority, Hon Julius Sang, and Soy MCA, Hon Isaac Chirchir, emphasised the importance of the initiative in ensuring a good road network for prosperity in Uasin Gishu.

County Executive for Roads, Transport and Public Works, Abraham Serem, thanked the governor for the initiative and said it should be completed before the rains. He urged residents to support the NYS team during implementation.

Sinonin residents, represented by John Maiyo and Jenipher Lelei, thanked the governor for ongoing development and urged all MCAs to support the NYS program with adequate funds.

The event was attended by CECMs Janet Koech (Health), Antony Sitienei (Water), Robert Kemei (Sports), Lucy Ng’endo (Education), Edward Sawe (Lands), and chief officers from different departments, among other notable county officials.
