Uasin Gishu Chief Officer for Culture and Heritage Eunice Suter has described this year’s Kenya National Music And Cultural Festivals as more standardized.
The festival’s 97th edition themed ‘Our Culture, Our Wealth’ is ongoing in Taita Taveta County.
Speaking on the sidelines of the lively presentations by various counties participating, the Chief Officer said culture brings wealth, especially when the youths continue with what their elders have practised for years.
“They can learn from it as they sing and dance different types of cultural music while entertaining the masses,” she said.
In addition, the Chief Officer urged the youth to propagate culture saying future generations rely on them to pass on. She also expressed optimism that Uasin Gishu will emerge victorious in the festivals.
“We are hopeful as the county government of Uasin Gishu that our groups will take us far. We’ve great expectations that in this year, we’ll be able to carry home more trophies and we may take the lead if things go well,” CO Suter added.
She also thanked the planners of the festivals and Governor Dr.Jonathan Bii Chelilim for giving them the opportunity to represent the county.
Uasin Gishu was second in the 96th edition of the Kenya National Music And Cultural Festivals which was held in Makueni last year.
Present was Director of Culture Mohamed Dakane and his deputy Paul Sambu.
