COUNTY VISITS SOGOMO MARKET AHEAD OF ITS OPERATIONALIZATION

The Department of Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development led by County Executive Committee Member Martha Cheruto on Monday together with trade officers made an impromptu visit to the Sogomo market to check on general preparations ahead of its operationalization.

Speaking during the visit CECM Cheruto said their aim as a docket is to ensure there is an enhanced business environment across the markets.

She said the visit was also part of the previously rolled out program on market upgrade, especially on those that have a huge population.

“Improved infrastructure in our markets including Sogomo is in line with the governor’s agenda of ensuring traders have access to markets as well as a conducive environment,” she said

Chairlady of Sogomo Market, Divinah Kosgei, thanked the county for operationalization plans noting that the lack of social amenities including water has been a major challenge to them.

“We have so many traders in our market and it has been our prayer that we relocate from the road to the safe side where we can operate peacefully” poised Kosgei.

The CECM who was accompanied by among others, Chief Trade Development Officer, Edwin Korir, and Kuinet Ward Assistant Administrator Jackline Chepkole also visited the Kuinet market and Kuinet milk cooling plant to check on their status.
