COUNTY STRENGTHENS MEDIUM TERM EXPENDITURE FRAMEWORK TO ENHANCE SERVICE DELIVERY

The County Government of Uasin Gishu in collaboration with USAID Ampath Uzima is taking steps to strengthen the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) to better guide budgetary decisions and ensure effective allocation of resources.

The MTEF sets out three-year spending plans for the department, aiming to reflect the government’s social and economic priorities and fulfil reconstruction and development commitments.

Speaking during the meeting Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health Dr. Joyce Sang emphasized the significance of the MTEF in guiding budgetary decisions and ensuring timely service delivery by enabling better planning, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of projects and programs.

Dr. Sang acknowledged the need for capacity building in financial management and planning as a means to strengthen the MTEF and guarantee successful implementation.

“As a department, we remain to be fully committed to improving service delivery and ensuring that residents have access to timely and quality healthcare and the implementation of the MTEF will play a crucial role in effectively and efficiently allocating resources, ultimately contributing to the development and well-being of both the county and its residents,” says Dr. Sang.

On his part, the technical lead of USAID Ampath Uzima Dr. Roberts Abok applauded the County Government of Uasin Gishu for their commitment to enhancing the MTEF and aligning budgets with development priorities by stressing the importance of sound financial management and accountability in achieving sustainable development goals.

On his part, Director Finance Silas Rono noted that by strengthening the MTEF, Uasin Gishu County Government aims to align budgets with social and economic priorities, thus fulfilling the government’s commitment to reconstruction and development.

“Through close collaboration with USAID Ampath Uzima and other partners, the county will continue to enhance its capacity in financial management and planning, ensuring the successful implementation of the MTEF and ultimately improving service delivery for residents,” says Rono
