Dairy farmers in Uasin Gishu have been advised to digitize their operations to facilitate clear and traceable records of their animal production.
According to County Executive Committee Member for Trade and Cooperatives Martha Cheruto, dairy farmers have the past years had challenges with records and information regarding their general performance.






And addressing county dairy farmers on Wednesday during a consultative meeting held in partnership with Digifarm, a meeting that also saw the revival of North Rift Dairy Farmers Cooperative Union, Trade CECM called on them to work together to realize a strong bargaining power to sustain and grow the Union.
“You have the potential as dairy farmers in our county to aggregate your milk and do value addition for better returns,” said the CECM.
CECM for Agriculture Dr Sam Kotut said the County would soon roll out the propagation of super napiergrass, which is perceived to contain all nutritional components needed for high milk production.
He also said plans are underway to introduce standardized sexed semen across cooperative societies to help dairy farmers with quality breeds and high production of milk.
Directors Kipleting Mengich(Enterprise) Samwel Wambugu( Co-op Audit), and Drucilla Cherogony (Cooperatives) called on the farmers to work closely with the Department of Cooperatives to see them run and manage the Union to meet its set goals.






Paul Siret was elected as chairman of the Union, Samwel Barmasai(Vice-chair)Barnabas Kimitei(Secretary)and Ida Kosgei as treasurer.
Deputy Director for Co-ops John Rotich, Cooperative officers Shadrack Rotich, Sharon Koilege, Gideon Chirchir, Josephine Katam and David Olang’o were present.
