COUNTY MINISTER CALLS FOR FULL SHA COMPLIANCE IN FACILITIES

Uasin Gishu County Executive for Health Services, Janet Kurgat, has directed all public health facilities across the county to fully comply with the Social Health Authority (SHA) framework, emphasizing that patients should not be required to make cash payments for services covered under the scheme.

Speaking during a routine support supervision exercise in Turbo Sub-County, Kurgat reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to delivering affordable and accessible healthcare, warning that any facility found flouting SHA guidelines will face strict administrative action.

She stressed that the ongoing reforms are meant to protect residents from out-of-pocket expenses and ensure equitable access to quality healthcare.

During the visit, the CECM visited Turbo Sub County Hospital, Murgusi Dispensary and Chepsaita Dispensary, where she assessed service delivery, patient care standards, and the level of compliance with SHA requirements.

She engaged healthcare workers and facility managers, urging them to align operations with national health financing reforms.

“The national health insurance is aimed at ensuring the public has access to health services because they are already in the scheme.” “Managers should ensure continuous compliance with this,” said the CECM.

The supervision exercise forms part of the county’s broader strategy to strengthen health systems, enhance service delivery, and ensure that all residents fully benefit from the government’s universal health coverage agenda.

The CECM was also joined by Acting Director of Medical Services Crisspus Massam, Principal Programs Officer Johanes Mosbei, Sub-County Administrator Lelei, and Tapsagoi and Ngenyilel Ward Administrators Sambai and Sheila Menjo.
