COUNTY FORGES PARTNERSHIP FOR RURAL ELECTRIFICATION PROGRAM, COUNTY STIMA MASHINANI

County Executive for Energy, Dr. Sam Kottut on Tuesday hosted a delegation from Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) North Rift Region to strategize on the implementation of the rural electrification program connection.

The REREC delegation was led by regional manager Eng. Jonah Kosgei. The meeting was to strategize for the implementation of the rural electrification program, County Stima Mashinani.

The County Stima Mashinani initiative aims to provide electricity access to rural communities within Uasin Gishu County, bridging the gap in energy provision and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.

According to Dr. Kottut, the program is geared towards stimulating economic activities, improving living standards, and boosting security measures across the region.

CECM Kottut emphasized that in the upcoming financial year 2024/25, Uasin Gishu County is poised to connect 120 villages to electricity, marking a significant milestone in the county’s development agenda.

Chief Officer Mary Kerich reiterated the county’s commitment to promoting inclusive development and addressing the needs of marginalized populations through initiatives such as the County Stima Mashinani program.

According to Kerich, the anticipated connectivity of 120 villages to electricity through the County Stima Mashinani initiative sets a course for a brighter and more empowered future for the residents of Uasin Gishu County. Director of Energy Dr Silas Kering Letting was also present during the meeting.
