CONSULTATIVE FORUM FOR ADMINISTRATORS AND THE COUNTY CLIMATE CHANGE UNIT

The Department of Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change on Monday held a consultative meeting with the Sub-County Administrators, Ward Administrators and the County Climate Change Unit.

The meeting was to strategize on the best ways to implement climate change projects at the grassroots.

Speaking while representing the County Executive Committee Member for Environment and Climate Change, Dr Sam Kotut, the Chief Officer for the department Ms Mary Kerich said that the Financing Locally Led Climate Change Actions (FLoCCA) programs should be locally led and impactful to the residents. https://www.worldbank.org/

We will work to implement programs that are both impactful to the residents and at the same time able to build the resilience of the community towards the adverse impacts of climate change,” said Kerich.

The Chief Officer further added that timelines are expected to be met in the execution of projects. https://www.treasury.go.ke/

” Timelines are key in implementing the projects and we will give priority to projects that were identified by the residents,” added Kerich.

On his part, Director of Livestock Abraham Kiptanui added that the projects should be measured by performance for Results hence the need for identifying viable projects.

Present were Sub-County Administrators, Ward Administrators and County Climate Change Unit Members.
