ARM YOURSELF WITH IT SKILLS, DG BAROROT TELLS YOUTH

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Eng. John Barorot has challenged the youth to ensure they have basic IT skills aside from the main profession they are focusing on.

Speaking during Prayer Day/ Exit Talk for July Candidates at Rift Valley Technical Training, Eng. Barorot said with the current digital transformation, IT skills were a must.

“Arm yourself with IT skills. You should know how to use a computer. Be IT literate because even tomorrow, they will expect you to know the basics in IT irrespective of what you will do for that company,” the DG said.

“There are a lot more opportunities in the IT world,” he added.

Eng. Barorot also advised the students to remain calm during their examination so as to clearly understand the question.

He further asked them to put God first.

The Deputy Governor also asked the youth to take control of their lives and shun alcoholism.

On her part, Education CECM Dr. Janeth Kosgei asked the students to strive at doing their best in the examinations.

“Do not break the pot at the doorstep, you’re almost there. All sacrifices made over the years let them not go to waste. Do your best and we believe you will come out successful,” she said.

The CECM also pointed out that RVTTI is among the best institutions in the country and expressed optimism that once they graduate, the students will be able to fill the gap in their respective industries.
