The Board of Directors of Uasin Gishu County Rural Water and Sanitation Company (URWASCO), led by Chairman Mr. Pius Kigen, on Thursday paid a courtesy call to Chris Kiptoo, Principal Secretary at the National Treasury, to explore avenues for resource mobilization aimed at upgrading water schemes across Uasin Gishu County.
The discussions centered on securing financial and institutional backing to accelerate water infrastructure development and improve service delivery across all sub-counties. The proposed upgrades are expected to boost operational efficiency, expand service coverage, and promote sustainable access to clean and affordable water and sanitation services.

URWASCO operates under Nguzo 7 of the Uasin Gishu County development agenda, a pillar that prioritizes improved living standards through accessible water and sanitation services. The framework also underscores environmental sustainability, including the promotion of a clean and healthy environment and the responsible management of natural resources.
As a key provider serving peri-urban and rural communities, URWASCO is mandated to manage and sustain water projects to ensure a reliable, long-term supply. Enhanced collaboration with the National Treasury is anticipated to fast-track critical upgrades, strengthen system functionality, and build capacity to meet rising demand.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to advancing water security and delivering efficient services in line with the county’s broader development priorities.
