Residents of Ziwa Ward in Soy Sub-county are set to benefit from improved access to clean and safe drinking water following the official handover of the Chebarus/Mafuta Water Project site to the contractor.

The project entails the construction of a 24-cubic-metre elevated water tank, installation of a water pump and a solar-powered pumping system, and the establishment of communal water points to improve access to reliable water services for residents.

The Chebarus/Mafuta Water Project is among more than 60 water projects being implemented by the County Government of Uasin Gishu as part of its commitment to expanding access to clean, safe, and sustainable water across the county.

Speaking during the site handover ceremony, Ziwa Ward MCA Ezekiel Kodi reaffirmed the county’s commitment to implementing Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii’s Nguzo Kumi development agenda, noting that the initiative is aimed at ensuring more residents have access to reliable, clean, and safe piped water.

County Water Engineers Eng. Celestine Kigen and Eng. Ndasaba Simiyu assured residents that the project would be executed to the highest quality standards and completed within the stipulated timelines to enable the community to begin enjoying its benefits as soon as possible.

Also present during the event was the Assistant Director of Water Development, Abraham Metto.

Water remains a key priority under Nguzo 7 of the Nguzo Kumi development agenda, which focuses on strengthening water infrastructure and expanding access to clean, safe, and sustainable water services across Uasin Gishu County.
