Uasin Gishu County Executive for Trade, Tourism, Industrialization and Investment, Dr. Philip Chebunet, on Wednesday officially opened a regional consultation meeting that brought together the North Rift counties of Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo-Marakwet alongside the Ministry of Tourism’s Task Force on Repositioning and Rebranding Kenya’s Tourism for a regional tourism product assessment. The Tourism Fund supported the forum.

The consultation event focused on key thematic areas, including tourism rebranding and audit, tourism product identification, investment and policy, and domestic tourism development, to enhance the region’s tourism competitiveness and unlock new economic opportunities.

As part of the assessment, Director for Tourism Ms. Aiyabei reviewed Uasin Gishu County’s proposed flagship tourism products, including the Eldoret Arboretum, the proposed Snake/Reptile Park, and the proposed Wildlife Conservancy park at Chebororwo ATC, all aimed at diversifying the county’s tourism offerings and attracting more local and international visitors.

Present were Chief Officer for Trade Elphas Kesio, Director of Investment Erustus Kerich, Director of Tourism Margaret Aiyabei, officials from the Uasin Gishu Tourism Directorate, Tourism Fund leadership, and representatives from the participating counties.
