UASIN GISHU STEPS UP WATER ACCESS WITH KAPTELDET, CHEPCHABAI PROJECTS

‎Uasin Gishu County Government has handed over two major water projects—Kapteldet and Chepchabai—to contractors, paving the way for improved water supply in the region.

‎The Kapteldet Water Project will involve pump installation, a solar-powered pumping unit, construction of a 24-cubic-meter elevated pressed steel tank, and a 9-kilometer distribution pipeline. The Chepchabai Water Project includes spring protection, a suction sump, a solar pumping system, a rising main pipeline, and a 7-kilometer distribution pipeline.

‎During the handover, Engineer Bob Busungu, Area MCA Hon. Kebenei, and Ward Administrator Kurgat emphasized the county’s commitment to ensuring timely completion. MCA Kebenei assured residents that the contractor would deliver quality work within schedule, benefiting hospitals, schools, and the surrounding community.

‎For residents like Mzee Jonah Tanui, the project marks the end of a long wait. “We are lucky that a promise we have waited for so long has finally been fulfilled. We will now access clean water,” he said.

‎The initiative aligns with Nguzo 7, Governor Jonathan Bii’s strategy to enhance water accessibility, environmental conservation, and sustainable resource management. As water demand rises, the county remains focused on delivering clean, safe, and affordable water solutions to its residents.
