Leaders of Cooperative Societies and Saccos have been urged to uphold integrity in their management to ensure these entities achieve their set objectives.
Speaking during a training session for members of Kapsaos Ukulima Sacco and Kapsaos Cooperative Society on Monday, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Trade and Cooperatives, Martha Cheruto, emphasized that the management of cooperative societies is a strategic process.
She noted that effective leadership not only provides a competitive advantage but also ensures the needs of members are met.
“As leaders, you need to set the right direction that aligns with the aspirations of your members,” Cheruto stated.
She also encouraged cooperative societies to take advantage of the County Enterprise Development Fund (CEDF), which is specifically designed to support and empower societies economically.
The county provides loans to these entities at a favourable interest rate of 5% per annum.
Kapsaos Member of County Assembly (MCA), Hon. Isaac Chepkulei, who was also present, announced that plans are underway for the establishment of the Kapsaos market.

“Through Governor Jonathan Bii’s leadership, we will be included in the Economic Stimulus Program (ESP) for the establishment of our market,” affirmed the MCA.
The training covered key areas such as shares mobilization, savings, the NAVCDP Program, the importance of Artificial Insemination (AI), land rates, and land segregation.
Also in attendance were Deputy Director for Cooperatives, John Rotich, along with cooperative officers Edwin Keitany and Brigit Makena.
