INCEPTION REPORTS ON CONSULTANCY FOR PHYSICAL PLANNING AND LAND USE DEVELOPMENT PLANS PRESENTED

The Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development is undertaking several consultancy services to attain functional local Physical Planning and Land Use in several trading centres.

For purposes of ratings, the Department is preparing a valuation roll of Marakwet Development Farm and is engaging the public to ensure that the wananchi are given an opportunity to give their views on the same.

Director Lands Ms Nelly Jerotich during the presentation noted that survey works were underway at Kipkaren Estate, to establish its public utilities for purposes of securing the existing public land.

She also noted that progress for the Physical and Land Use Plan and Registration of Momoniat Trading Center was underway and the consultant was urged to take into consideration the changes that have occurred over time due to land grabbing.

“The Physical Planning and Land Use Development Plan will help in mitigation of upcoming undesirable Urban growth forms in the centre,” said Ms.Jerotich.

Presentations of inception reports on the survey and registration of Elgeyo Border and identification of public utilities within Kimumu township, as needs rise within the township were also done.

At Kimumu factors in consideration included the placement of residential areas, commercial areas and public utilities including schools and hospitals while protecting all the riparian areas.

Senior Planners Mr Charles Kimani, Mr. Cyprian Chesire and other officers were also present.
