ELDORET CITY GETS NEW MANAGER

The newly appointed Eldoret City Manager, Ms. Elzeba Busienei, was today officially sworn in at a colorful ceremony held at the Multipurpose Hall in County Headquarters.

The event was presided over by Presiding Judge of the High Court of Kenya – Eldoret Hon. Justice Reuben Nyakundi and witnessed by H.E Dr Jonathan Bii, his deputy, county attorney, county secretary, CECMs, Chief Officer, senior county officials, members of the Judiciary and the general public.

The swearing in marks a significant milestone in the governance of Eldoret recently chartered as a city, the city manager is tasked with spearheading urban transformation, waste management, enforcement of order among other duties within the city.

Her appointment gives new impetus to Governor Bii’s efforts to modernize Eldoret and improve service delivery in the city as per his urban development vision.

Speaking during the event, the county boss reaffirmed that cleanliness, order, and safety within the city is non-negotiable. He asked the new city manager to work with all the stakeholders and ensure that Eldoret becomes a modern model city in Kenya.

“Cleanliness is not an option for a city of our status; we must embrace sustainable waste management, enforce city order, and prioritize road and personal safety. Eldoret must reflect the aspirations of its residents and the standards of a modern city,” says the Governor.

Justice Nyakundi commended the growing partnership between Judiciary and the County Government of Uasin Gishu, noting that such cooperation enhances justice delivery and public service efficiency. He lauded the leadership of Governor Bii for investing in critical infrastructure to decentralize justice.

“The Judiciary celebrates counties like Uasin Gishu where collaboration is yielding results. His Excellency Governor Bii has demonstrated goodwill by ensuring that all six sub-counties are set to host functional judicial facilities,” Justice Nyakundi remarked.

On his part the Deputy Governor H.E Evans Kapkea applauded Governor Bii for his steadfast commitment to gender inclusion in leadership, highlighting the appointment of Ms. Busienei as a clear testament to empowering women in governance.

Also present in the event are the members of the municipal board, the clergy, family of the new city manager among other dignitaries.
