Honourable Evans Kapkea has been sworn in as the new Deputy Governor of Uasin Gishu County.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the County Headquarters on Thursday, November 14, marked a major milestone in the county leadership under Governor Dr. Jonathan Chelilim Bii.
Governor Bii, in his speech, saluted Hon. Kapkea’s record of service to the people and declared confidence in the new Deputy to bring about inspiring change in Uasin Gishu.
“With his exceptional skills, the vast wealth of knowledge and expertise, he will play a crucial role in delivering quality services and make a significant impact on the country’s development agenda,” Governor Bii said.
At the same time, the County boss expounded on the position Kapkea will play to help the county realize its ambitious “Nguzo Kumi” blueprint.
This comprises a 10-point development plan covering areas such as agriculture, education, health, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.
During his acceptance speech, H.E. Kapkea thanked the people for trusting him and promised to serve the people of Uasin Gishu County with much commitment and integrity.
He also promised to give priority to the implementation of Governor Bii’s development agenda, which surely will drive change and uplift the people’s lives.
“Let us all join hands in supporting the new leadership as we work towards the realization of Governor Bii’s Nguzo Kumi Development Agenda,” he said.
Kapkea, who previously served as a Member of the County Assembly for Tembelio Ward, has a wealth of public service experience.
He was the chair of the Trade, Industrialization, Tourism and Investment Committee in the County Assembly. He was a member of various committees that included Budget and Finance, Health, and Delegated Legislation.
Kapkea attended the University of Eldoret for a Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in the same field at Moi University.
Governor Bii expressed appreciation for the contribution Barorot has made to the development of the county and lauded his role in pushing forward key projects.
The ceremony ushers in a new era in governance for Uasin Gishu, with both the new deputy governor and residents of the county looking forward to continued growth and progress under the helm of Governor Bii.
