GOVERNOR DR. JONATHAN BII SWEARS IN NEW COUNTY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERS

Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii presided over the swearing-in ceremony of two newly appointed County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) at the County Hall on Monday, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving service delivery across the county.

The oath of office was administered by Judge Justice Ndungu, with County Attorney Sylvester Metto in attendance. Ms. Loice Jelimo Cheruiyot and Dr. Philip Chebunet formally joined the county executive, bringing fresh momentum to the Nguzo Kumi development agenda and the broader mission of improving service delivery for all residents.

In his address, Governor Bii welcomed the appointees to the “City of Champions,” noting that their leadership marks a decisive step toward improving service delivery at every level of government.

He highlighted the Department of Public Service Management, Administration, and Devolved Units as central to this mission, given its direct influence on the quality and reach of public services.

“The people expect a public service that is efficient, disciplined, transparent, and responsive to their needs,” Governor Bii said. “Your leadership will be instrumental in improving service delivery systems, enhancing staff welfare and motivation, and deepening the effectiveness of devolved units so that services reach every corner of our county.”

The Governor challenged the new CECMs to focus on performance, results, and impact, making clear that improving service delivery is the standard by which every department will be judged.

He urged the appointees to work closely with fellow executives, chief officers, directors, technical teams, and stakeholders to foster teamwork, efficiency, and collective responsibility in improving service delivery.

“Leadership is not a privilege for self-interest; it is a sacred trust bestowed upon us by the people,” he stated.

Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea reminded the newly sworn-in officials that the residents of Uasin Gishu were looking to them for tangible improvements in their daily lives. “Service to humanity is always the best,” said Kapkea.

Majority Leader Julius Sang expressed confidence in the new team, saying their appointment would ensure a seamless flow of operations and help steer the county to the next level.

“We are privileged to have this team and we look forward to working closely with both the County Government and the County Assembly to give Uasin Gishu residents a good scorecard in improving service delivery,” he said.

County Secretary Philip Meli described the ceremony as an auspicious occasion, confirming that the new members would receive handover letters, appointment letters, and performance contracts to guide their execution of duties and appraisals in improving service delivery.
