The County Government of Uasin Gishu, in partnership with Bill and Belinda Gates sub-Saharan Editech (SEF), will soon roll out a concept note on the baseline survey that focuses on retooling ECDE teachers on matters related to ECDE learning content.
The Non-governmental program that saw at least four counties across the country benefit, including Uasin Gishu, is seeking to leverage technology to improve learning outcomes in foundation literacy and numeracy in underserved communities in the region.
Speaking on Wednesday during the training on the county’s baseline resource requirements, Education and Vocational Training Chief Officer Marion Birgen said the program will enhance digital learning and help ensure accurate data.
“Through this digital program, we will be able to have all our data by a click of a button,” said Birgen.

According to Director for Administration and Planning Wilson Sawe, the program will realize a paradigm shift from brick and mortar to digital among the ECDE teachers.
He said some of the teachers were trained many years ago, and it is paramount for them to be capacitated on the new curriculum to keep all ECDE children on the good learning track.
On the piloting aspect, the department will sample the schools from those in the urban and rural setup and analyse piloting outcomes before rolling the program to schools across the county.
The organization will also provide capital and support for the analysis of innovations in the SEF ecosystem to achieve learning outcomes and foster digital skills through solutions, improving curriculum, teaching learning and assessment of the content.
The event saw various officers from the Department of Education attend, including deputy directors Rodelyn Kosgei and Pius Mosbei.
