The Department of Water, Irrigation and Sanitation has been working to ensure that all Uasin Gishu residents get access to piped water.
Access to adequate and reliable water closer to the doorsteps also improves livelihoods through irrigation and water for daily use. This was Governor Dr Jonathan Bii’s pre-election promise.


Segero/Barsombe Member of County Assembly, Hon. Nathan Malamoch, area Ward Administrator Mr. Jacob Bitok and County Water Eng. Celestine Kigen handed over the Kapngetuny, Segero Centre and Segero/Moiben Water Projects to the contractor in Moiben Sub-County.
Speaking during the handover. Hon Malamoch shared similar sentiments with County officials urging the contractors to deliver quality work and work within the stipulated time.
“You should own the project as locals, maintain good working relations with the contractors and be disciplined”, said Hon Malamoch.


Kapngetuny Water Project’s scope of works entails the repair of the sump and pump house, pumping main approximately 21km and fencing, it is anticipated to serve over 150 households that include, including Kapngetuny Primary and Secondary Schools, Kapngetuny Gaa Secondary School and Kibagenge Dispensary.
Segero Centre Water Project upon completion is anticipated to serve approximately 200 households including the Segero shopping centre and public amenities such as Segero Police Post, the Chief’s office, Segero SDA Church and Segero SDA primary school.
Additionally, the Segero/Moiben Water Project will serve over 100 households including SegerPrimary School and Segero SDA Church.
