BUNGOMA COUNTY BENCHMARKS UASIN GISHU’S SERVICE CENTRE OPERATIONS

The County Government of Uasin Gishu continues to set the pace in digital service delivery, with its automated e-services attracting delegations from across the country eager to learn from its model.

On Wednesday, Uasin Gishu hosted a delegation from Bungoma County on a benchmarking mission aimed at adopting best practices from the county’s state-of-the-art Service Centre.

The visiting team was taken through the entire service chain from reception and registration to licensing and approvals, all offered under one roof. County Executive Committee Member for Finance and Economic Planning, Micah Rogony, commended the delegation for choosing Uasin Gishu, noting that the Service Centre has earned national recognition.

“Indeed, you chose to learn from the best. We have hosted many visitors, including the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), all of whom have been impressed by our Service Centre. We remain open to more visits because as others learn from us, we also identify areas for continuous improvement,” said Rogony.

County Secretary Philip Meli emphasized the role of devolution in strengthening service delivery, highlighting technology as a game changer in county operations.

Chief Officers Eliud Kipkorir (Finance) and Nixon Cheplong (Economic Planning) guided the Bungoma team through the revenue processes onboarded on the Sisibo Pay system, showcasing the efficiency gains achieved through automation.

Leading the Bungoma delegation, CECM for Finance and Economic Planning, Caro Makali, commended Uasin Gishu for centralizing services into a single, accessible hub.

“I’m impressed with how you’ve synchronized services in one place. This motivates clients because they no longer need to move from office to office for approvals. We have seen, we’ve learned, and we will implement the same in Bungoma,” she said.

Also present were Directors David Kebenei (Licensing) and CPA Jonah Lamai (Revenue), alongside other licensing and revenue officers, who engaged the visiting team on the technical and operational aspects of the Service Centre.
