The County Department of Public Service Management, in partnership with the Aga Khan Medical Centre, hosted a wellness breakfast meeting on Thursday, themed “Promoting Wellness, Prevention and Strategic Healthcare Partnerships.”
The forum brought together County Executives, Chief officers, Directors, staff and healthcare professionals for insightful discussions aimed at enhancing employee wellbeing and fostering a healthier workforce.
County Executive Committee Member for Lands Edward Sawe and his counterpart for Trade and Cooperatives, Dr. Philip Chebunet, shared the same sentiments and
emphasised the importance of regular medical check-ups, noting that many chronic illnesses can be effectively managed or prevented through early detection.






They encouraged employees to make routine health screening a personal responsibility, emphasizing that preventive healthcare remains one of the most effective ways to reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases and improve quality of life.
Chief Officer for Public Service Management, Dr. Paul Wangwe, reiterated the county government’s commitment to promoting employee wellness, observing that a healthy workforce is essential for efficient service delivery.
He noted that investing in staff wellbeing not only improves productivity but also contributes to a positive and supportive work environment.
During the session, Dr. Patrick Sarwei led participants through an informative presentation on lifestyle diseases, highlighting the causes, risk factors and preventive measures associated with conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. He urged employees to adopt healthy lifestyles through proper nutrition, regular exercise and routine medical examinations.






Dr. Kennedy Imbuki addressed mental health and its growing significance in the workplace. He sensitized participants on mental illnesses and the effects of emotional, physical and mental exhaustion, emphasizing the need for self-care, stress management and seeking professional support whenever necessary.
