UASIN GISHU TAKES ESSENTIAL HEALTHCARE SERVICES CLOSER TO RESIDENTS AS OVER 500 BENEFIT FROM SUGOI B MEDICAL CAMP

More than 500 residents have benefited from a comprehensive medical outreach at Sugoi B Dispensary in Turbo Sub-County, as the County Government of Uasin Gishu steps up efforts to improve access to quality and affordable healthcare.

The medical camp, led by Chief Officer for Preventive and Promotive Health Services, Dr. Billy Lubanga, brought a range of essential medical services closer to residents, underscoring the county government’s commitment to strengthening community-based healthcare and ensuring early detection and management of various health conditions.

Speaking during the exercise, Dr. Lubanga emphasized the importance of decentralising healthcare services to ensure residents access timely medical attention regardless of their geographical location.

“Quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their location or background. Through these medical camps, we are taking services closer to our communities, promoting early diagnosis, prevention and timely treatment of various health conditions,” said Dr. Lubanga.

Dr. Edward Serem, Head of the Division of Reproductive Health at the Ministry of Health, underscored the role of partnerships and community outreach initiatives in strengthening healthcare delivery, particularly in reproductive health.

He called for sustained public awareness, regular screening and improved access to reproductive health information and services to promote healthier communities.

The outreach, supported by the Ministry of Health’s Division of Reproductive Health, Chronic Disease Society and Philips Pharmaceuticals, provided a wide range of services, including general medical consultations, chronic disease management, gynaecological and obstetric care, cervical and breast cancer screening, family planning services and Social Health Authority (SHA) registration.

The exercise brought together healthcare professionals and other stakeholders in a coordinated effort to address the medical needs of the community while promoting preventive healthcare and encouraging residents to seek medical attention early.
