UASIN GISHU, NOREB COUNTIES TO POSITION THEMSELVES ON MATTERS TOURISM FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH

The County Executive Committee Member for Trade and Cooperatives Martha Cheruto has disclosed that there is a an urgent need to position Uasin Gishu County and the entire North Rift Economic Bloc region to go to space destination in terms of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions(MICE), Sports, Medical and Cultural Tourism.

Cheruto says some of the many opportunities coming up through national and county governments projects such as CAIPs, EPZ and markets is evidence of the regions growth and the need for investors to prepare, explore and maximize on these opportunities is paramount.

“AFCON is coming and we will be part of the hosts so let’s all put our efforts even as we gear up to a city status because all industry players will benefit from the same” Said Cheruto on Tuesday during a sensitization workshop by Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA).

The event that also saw Hoteliers from the region attend, the CECM confirmed to the stakeholders that the county government works around the clock to ensure conducive business environment through provision of portable water, agriculture, matters youth, energy among others.

“Nguzo Kumi agenda 4 is on trade and tourism and H.E Governor Jonathan Bii notes with great concern the role of tourism in the local economy” added Cheruto

She also called on the industry to up their game in standards and service delivery in an effort to enhance customer satisfaction adding that the county government will continue to partner with the national government in implementing it’s strategies in the sector even as it awaits for unbundling of functions from Council of Governors (COG) and The Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGTRC).
