The County Government of Uasin Gishu played host to leaders and the general public in a public participation that saw representatives of 6 counties attend to give their views on ammendments Bill, 2023 under the land-sector statutes.

County Executive Committee Member for the Department of Lands Dr. Janeth Kosgei who hosted the delegations from Turkana, Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans-Nzoia, Nandi, West Pokot and Uasin-Gishu appreciated the turn up noting that the reforms were geared at improving service delivery and hence everyones input was very important in the process.

These proposed reforms are hinged on the pillar of legal reforms and digitization of land records as well as digitization of land processes. These are reforms that affect wananchi directly hence alot of factors must be considered to ensure fairness is achieved,” said Dr. Kosgei.

Representing the Principal Secretary of Lands Hon. Nixon Koris , Director Land adjudication and settlement Mr. Kennedy Njenga, said that the ammendments also seek to register more progress in the legal reforms upon which improved service delivery shall be guaranteed.

It is noteworthy to say that some of the fees and levies have not been reviewed for long period of time some spanning to 30 years since last review. The reforms seeks to eliminate imbalances in land-sector when it comes to land rent,” said Mr. Njenga.

The team appreciate the cashless system introduced in all land registries which has ensured security of revenue received while monitoring collections on real time.

The regulations under review are:- The Survey Regulations, The Community Land Regulations, The Physical & Land Use Planning, The Land Registration and The Land valuers Rules
