UASIN GISHU EMPOWERS SINGLE MOTHERS AND WIDOWS

Single mothers and widows in Segero, Kipkenyo Ward, Kapseret Sub-County, gathered at Segero Adventist Church for an empowerment forum aimed at boosting their socio-economic well-being.

The initiative brought together community members to share experiences, acquire practical skills, and explore opportunities for self-reliance.

Speaking at the event, Chief Officer for Gender and Social Protection Marion Birgen reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups through targeted empowerment programmes and inclusive policies.

Participants received training on income-generating activities and financial literacy, while also addressing social and emotional challenges. Local leaders and church representatives lauded the initiative, calling for sustained collaboration to uplift women in the community.

The forum concluded with participants expressing gratitude and a renewed resolve to improve their livelihoods.
