The County Government of Uasin Gishu, under the leadership of Governor H.E. Dr. Jonathan Bii, is setting a benchmark in sustainable governance through its strategic approach to revenue enhancement. The recently held Own Source Revenue Roundtable Enhancement Meeting at an Eldoret hotel brought together county leaders, stakeholders, and development partners to advance innovative solutions for financial autonomy and improved service delivery.

“This roundtable is a testament to our commitment to building a self-reliant county. By optimizing our revenue streams, we ensure that Uasin Gishu remains a model for effective and sustainable governance,” Kapkea remarked.

The forum highlighted the county’s use of technology to streamline revenue collection, including implementing the Sisibo Pay system, which has significantly boosted efficiency and accountability.

County Executive Member for Finance and Economic Planning, Micah Rogony, outlined the county’s vision to surpass its Ksh 2.8 billion revenue target. “We are diversifying income sources, digitizing processes, and leveraging innovative solutions to strengthen our financial position,” Rogony said.

Chief Officer for Finance, Mr. Eliud Chemaget, presented impressive revenue growth statistics and credited the success to proactive strategies and enhanced collaboration among departments.

The Revenue Strategy Committee Chairperson, Mr. Koiya Maiyo, showcased key initiatives that have simplified compliance and increased public trust.

“From mobile payment systems to extensive public awareness campaigns, we are making it easier for residents to contribute to the county’s growth while fostering voluntary participation,” he said.

The event also underscored the importance of partnerships in achieving these goals. Representatives from the World Bank and the Commission on Revenue Allocation praised Uasin Gishu’s innovative leadership, noting that the county is paving the way for sustainable development in Kenya.

Governor Bii’s vision for financial independence continues to inspire transformative initiatives across the county. By linking enhanced revenue collection to improved service delivery, Uasin Gishu County is not only achieving its targets but also setting new standards in governance and development.
