The County Government of Uasin Gishu, through its Department of Roads, Transport, and Public Works, has commenced a road improvement program across its 30 wards. This initiative aligns with Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii’s goal of completing at least 1,000 kilometers of roads each financial year.
During an inspection tour in Kapsoya Ward, Ainabkoi Sub-County, the Chief Officer for Roads, Engineer Abraham Kiptalam, revealed significant progress in the ongoing projects. To date, 14.6 kilometres of roads have been graded, and 6.3 kilometres gravelled in the ward since the program began earlier this month.
“In Kapsoya Ward, we plan to grade 10 kilometres of roads. Additionally, in the neighbouring Munyaka informal settlement, we will grade at least 20 kilometres of roads. The county will also undertake drainage works covering 21 meters within the ward,” said Engineer Kiptalam.

The county has also prioritized the installation of additional solar streetlights this financial year to ensure areas previously overlooked in the 2023/2024 fiscal year benefit from improved lighting and security.
“I thank our Governor for setting clear targets and ensuring all Class D roads under the county’s jurisdiction remain accessible,” Engineer Kiptalam added.
