UASIN GISHU COUNTY GEARS UP TO ENHANCE DAIRY PRODUCTION, AHEAD OF MILK COOLER DELIVERY

The County Government of Uasin Gishu on Tuesday hosted representatives from the State Department of Livestock as part of an assessment visit to evaluate the county’s preparedness to receive a pending delivery of milk coolers, thereby strengthening its dairy production infrastructure.

The meeting, held at the County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture Mr. Edward Sawe’s office was attended by Chief Officer for Livestock Mr. Nixon Cheplong, and Director Livestock Mr. Abraham Kiptanui.

During the visit, the county officials reassured the representatives of the county’s readiness to receive the milk coolers.

CECM Sawe highlighted that the County has already constructed a total of 46 milk coolers, out of which 23 have been received and put into operation successfully.

“The procurement of these milk coolers marks a major milestone in our endeavors to enhance dairy production in Uasin Gishu County. They will have a crucial role in maintaining the freshness and quality of milk, guaranteeing that our farmers can supply consumers with high-quality products,” said CECM Sawe.

The CECM stated that Governor Bii’s administration is dedicated to assisting dairy farmers and enhancing the entire milk production process in the region.

Livestock Chief Officer Mr. Cheplong mentioned that the visit demonstrates the combined efforts of various levels of Government to ensure the prosperity and expansion of the dairy industry in Uasin Gishu County.

Cheplong expressed the county’s readiness for the arrival of the remaining milk coolers and their anticipated positive impact on the dairy sector.

After the meeting, Chief Officer Mr. Nixon Cheplong accompanied a group from the State Department to visit seven milk coolers in Kesses and Kapseret Sub-Counties, while the director led another team to inspect seven other coolers in Ainabkoi.

Tomorrow, the team will complete their visit to the remaining milk coolers.
