The County Government of Uasin Gishu, under the dynamic leadership of Governor H.E. Jonathan Chelilim Bii, is showcasing its dedication to community development and empowerment through its significant support for the Chepsaita Cross Country Run 2024. This year’s event, themed Run for Education, embodies the county’s mission to transform lives through education, health and social well-being.
The county government has made key contributions to ensure the event’s success, including, extensive publicity and promotional initiatives, comprehensive road maintenance along the Lower Kipkaren-Chepkemel-Magut, Siryat-Chepkemel Dip routes etc., which will enhance accessibility for participants and visitors. Additionally, the county has deployed doctors, nurses, and essential medicines to ensure the health and safety of all attendees during the event.
Further demonstrating its commitment to community welfare, the county will distribute 2,000 packets of milk to children and ensure the availability of clean drinking water for runners and spectators. These measures reflect Uasin Gishu’s proactive approach to delivering essential services and creating a supportive environment for all.
Governor Jonathan Chelilim Bii emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “The Chepsaita Cross Country Run is a celebration of our shared values—resilience, unity, and the transformative power of education. This year’s run will provide life-changing opportunities for 10,000 deserving students, with scholarships worth Ksh 10 million set to be awarded. In addition, the event will recognize athletic excellence with Ksh 6 million in prize money for top performers, further cementing Chepsaita’s reputation as a hub for nurturing talent and promoting sportsmanship.
