UASIN GISHU COUNTY CALLS ON BUSINESSES IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS TO REDUCE NOISE POLLUTION

The County Executive Committee Member for Water, Irrigation, Sanitation, Energy, Natural Resources Environment and Climate Change Dr. Abraham Serem on Thursday called on the business people in residential areas to reduce noise pollution.

This comes after several complaints from residents of the Annex community, Racecourse ward in Kesses Sub-County of noise especially at night from clubs and other social facilities in the area.

The team lamented on serious effects affecting school-going children. This is due to excess noise at night in their neighbourhood among other adverse effects on the people living in their area.

In an engagement with the members of the community, the CECM resolved to do a follow-up on the non-compliant business premises.

” We are going to reach out to these businesses, and if they comply, then we will be able to retain their licenses,” said Serem.
