TRAINING OF CLIMATE CHANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE BEGINS

Governor Jonathan Bii’s administration is committed to supporting the capacity development of the County Climate Change Committees as part of its efforts to enhance climate resilience and sustainable development at the county level.

Chief Officer Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change Ms Mary Kerich on Wednesday officially opened a 3-day workshop for the County Climate Change Planning Committee.

She highlighted crucial areas to be covered in the training including the overview of the Financing Locally Led Climate Actions (FLLoCA), its impacts on different sectors, and the importance of adaptation and mitigation measures towards the climate change effects.

According to the Chief Officer, the training, will offer the committee a comprehensive understanding of climate change planning and equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to develop and implement effective strategies to address the challenges posed by climate change.

The planning committee members comprising of directors from climate change relevant sectors will also learn about the national and international policies and frameworks related to climate change.
