SWEDISH TEAM IN THE CITY FOR SOLID WASTE TRAINING

A delegation from Sweden led by Fatima Higander is in Eldoret for a week-long capacity building for the Municipality solid waste management team.

Fatima gave an Introductory message that ushered in the discussion that will see the Municipality team benefit from their counterparts from Sweden.

“We are here basically to share our way of doing things and especially on solid waste, Norrkopping and Eldoret are twin Cities on Solid Waste and therefore you should emulate from us,” said Fatima.

Citing the broad steps taken by Eldoret to what it is today,the Chief Executive Officer for Solid Waste Management Company in Norrkopping, Hendrick Peterson, acknowledged the great strides and efforts by the Municipality team to keep the City clean and manage waste.

“Eldoret City is not what it was 8 years ago when we first stepped here,much has been done in ensuring solid waste is properly managed,we will keep our partnership stronger and share more ideas to better the waste management,” said Peterson.

Municipality Manager Tito Koiyet commended the partnership between the two Municipalities.”We are grateful for the support we have received from Sweden,the trainings and the benchmarking that some of our staff received has been of great assistance in maintaining our streets,we call for more collaboration with this team from Norrkopping,” urged Mr Koiyet.

Also present were members from Norrkopping,Faith Seroney Deputy Director Branding, Amos Kipruto, Ag. Director Communication,Lameck Keino, Deputy Director Finance Municipality, Moses Rutto the Deputy Director Administration at the Municipality among others

The team is in Eldoret for skills development to the Municipality solid waste management team and the street cleaners.
