Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Eng. John Barorot on Thursday hosted a delegation from the Ostergotland region in Sweden in a discussion that aimed to strengthen the establishment of collaboration and partnership in the Equity in Cancer Healthcare project at the County

Barorot expressed his gratitude to the delegation for their past engagement and mentioned that the County will enhance its efforts in providing better service delivery by implementing cancer screening and early diagnosis methods.

I want to acknowledge your expertise and experience in cancer research, which we believe would greatly benefit the County and its residents”, said Barorot.

In line with the County’s commitment to providing better healthcare services, the Deputy Governor emphasized the need for proactive measures to identify and treat cancer at its early stages, as this significantly increases the chances of successful treatment and recovery.

He expressed his confidence that the collaboration with the Swedish delegation would enhance the county’s efforts in combating cancer.

Knowledge sharing and capacity building will enable local healthcare professionals to effectively address the challenges posed by this disease therefore the need to create public awareness and education in the fight against cancer,” said Eng Barorot.

Health Services County Executive Committee Member Dr. Abraham Serem stated that the County will work closely with the Swedish delegation to develop and implement comprehensive awareness campaigns, aimed at educating the public about the importance of regular screenings, lifestyle modifications, and early detection.

Serem said that the collaboration would not only contribute to the advancement of cancer research but also result in improved healthcare services for the residents of the County.

On her part, Clinical Services Chief Officer Dr Joyce Sang said that the partnership marks an important milestone in the County’s efforts to combat cancer.
