The County Government of Uasin Gishu, in partnership with the Social Health Authority (SHA), on Thursday held a focused capacity-building clinic aimed at strengthening service delivery, documentation, and claims management, as the county advances health sector reforms under Governor Dr Jonathan Bii’s Nguzo Kumi agenda.

County Executive Committee Member for Health Services Janet Kurgat emphasized the importance of proper record-keeping, urging health facilities to carefully document all information and technical guidance shared during the engagement to support continuous improvement and policy alignment.

Chief Officer for Clinical Services Ambrose Tarus challenged healthcare workers to fully seize the learning opportunity presented by the SHA team, calling on them to maximize knowledge across key areas including benefits packages, operational procedures, and the practical implementation of SHA guidelines to enhance patient outcomes and institutional efficiency.

Promotive and Preventive Health Chief Officer Dr Paul Wangwe underscored the need for ownership and accountability in the management of SHA clinics, noting that strong leadership is critical to delivering quality, accessible, and sustainable healthcare services. He highlighted the clinic’s role as a vital learning platform as health workers adapt to the evolving national health financing framework.

The engagement placed strong emphasis on benefits and claims management, with particular focus on the accurate documentation of inpatient services—identified as a cornerstone for timely reimbursements, accountability, and the long-term sustainability of health facilities operating under the SHA model.

Reaffirming political goodwill, county officials reiterated that the Uasin Gishu County Government remains fully committed to strengthening health services in line with the Nguzo Kumi second pillar, which prioritizes accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all residents.

The clinic marked another important step in equipping health facilities with the knowledge and tools needed to deliver efficient services while aligning with national health financing reforms for the benefit of patients and the wider community.
