PUSH FOR COOPERATIVE MOVEMENTS DOMINATES FARMERS AGRI-BUSINESS EXPO

County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture Mr. Edward Sawe has called on farmers to join cooperative societies to enhance their agricultural productivity and economic stability.

Mr. Sawe was speaking while representing Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii during the Agribusiness Expo and Trade Symposium with a theme : Climate Smart Technologies and practices For Sustainable Food Systems organized by the East African Grain Council (EAGC) in partnership with the county at Eldoret National Polytechnic on Thursday.

Speaking during a Symposium which attracted various stakeholders and Farmers from Nandi Elgeyo Marakwet, Tranzoia and Uasin Gishu, Mr. Sawe highlighted cooperative societies’ critical role in empowering farmers and providing them with vital resources and support.

Sawe who was accompanied by Chief Officer Livestock Mr. Nixon Cheplong and Director Agribusiness Joel Rutto detailed ongoing infrastructural projects done, by Governors Bii administration, including a cold storage facility for Irish potatoes currently under construction in Ainabkoi Sub County that aim to significantly reduce post-harvest losses, which have long plagued local farmers.
